Daniel Kay Hertz

I am a Chicago native. I currently work for the Chicago Department of Housing, and previously worked as a travel guidebook writer in the Yucatan, a state representative campaign staffer in Peoria, and one of the guys who shout “PEANUTS!” at Wrigley Field. This is a personal site.

I also worked for the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability and City Observatory.

I wrote The Battle of Lincoln Park: Urban Renewal and Gentrification in Chicago, a history of the origins of gentrification in Chicago, which was published in 2018. You can buy it here and read more about it here.

I used to maintain a blog, and an online publication that lasted only a few months but had some fun interviews.
